The Mindful HR Leader Hacking HR
This morning, I joined a #HackingHR Expert Panel on “The Mindful HR Leader”. As HR professionals, developing self-awareness and presence is essential for effective, impactful leadership.
We talked about lots of topics.
The discussion explored how mindfulness can help decision-making, engagement, and avoiding projecting triggers onto others. Speakers like Tami Chapek and Jen Casimiro shared insightful, real-world examples.
Moderator Minola Jac challenged us with questions like how mindfulness evaluates leadership strategies. We also discussed major unlearning, like myself realising not to multitask during essential conversations.
A key highlight was the rich diversity of perspectives shared by each speaker.
💠Kristin Strunk underscored the importance of regularly reminding ourselves to practice mindfulness, a simple yet powerful habit.
💠Tami eloquently spoke about the power of presence in genuinely understanding people’s motivations and values, which is crucial in HR leadership.
💠Jen‘s insight on recognising and managing one’s own triggers as a leader was a revelation, highlighting the importance of self-awareness in preventing the projection of these triggers onto others.
💠Tomeka brought a unique angle, focusing on the significance of actively listening to understand employees as professionals and individuals with lives outside of work. Mica’s emphasis on leading by example, particularly in managing personal stress to support the team’s well-being, resonated deeply with me.
The real-world examples and practical tips demonstrated how mindfulness can be seamlessly integrated into HR leadership to create more empathetic, understanding, and effective leaders.
This panel was a reminder of the ongoing journey of personal and professional growth that all HR leaders should embark on.
Thank you so much for this discussion, Minola, Kristin, Tami, Jen, and Tomeka!
Feel free to ask if you have any more questions or need further information on topics like mindful leadership or HR practices. Happy to help!
