Navigating HR Complexities with Confidence

Earlier today I had the pleasure of moderating a panel discussion focused on navigating the complexities that HR professionals face in today’s rapidly changing world.

We brought together HR leaders (Jason Risoli SPHR, Francisco (Paco) Farias, Deborah Maynard, MBA, CPHR, SHRM-SCP (she/her), and Gianna Kirkpatrick) from a variety of industries and company sizes to share challenges, best practices, and insights.

A recurring theme that was discussed throughout the session was the importance of staying up-to-date on evolving employment laws and regulations. Multiple panelists emphasized utilising various free resources like newsletters, government agencies, conferences, networking groups, and outside counsel to continuously learn about changes that may impact HR practices. Technology was also highlighted as transforming how professionals can gather and leverage data to improve decision-making and operational efficiency.

When it comes to employee engagement, the consensus was that frequent, targeted feedback provides more actionable insights than annual surveys. Panelists shared examples of using chatbots, daily polls, and focus groups to better understand employee experiences. It’s then critical to close the loop by communicating actions taken in response to feedback.

Looking ahead, generational shifts, remote work trends, and advancing technologies like AI will continue reshaping workforce expectations and the HR function. The panel encouraged cultivating confidence by preparing thoroughly, acknowledging what you don’t know, and leveraging your network for support.

Overall it was a thought-provoking discussion on how HR professionals can navigate complexities with confidence.

Thank you so much Jason, Francisco, Deborah, and Gianna!! I really enjoyed the thought provoking conversation 😊

This panel once again reinforced a few of the key reasons why I love conversations with Hacking HR panels:

👏 They provide an opportunity to learn from the experiences and best practices shared by other HR leaders from different industries and company sizes. This peer-to-peer learning is valuable.

👏 Attending panels allows professionals to stay informed about important and evolving HR topics through discussion with subject matter experts. This helps keep knowledge and skills up to date.

👏 Networking with other HR practitioners at events like Hacking HR panels can help build relationships and resources that can be leveraged later on for advice, support, or collaboration on initiatives.

👏 Free discussions provide accessible and affordable continuing education and professional development compared to expensive conferences or degree programs. It promotes ongoing learning.

👏 Interactive question and answer sessions give attendees a chance to contribute their own perspectives and have their specific challenges and questions addressed directly by panelists.

😊 Amazing 😍!!! Thanks👍
